This year the IHR Digital History seminar is support by the Programming Historian: a publisher of open-access, multi-lingual, and peer-reviewed tutorials that help historian learn digital tools, techniques, and workflows.
Session chairs: James Baker and Alexandra Ortolja-Baird
The IHR Digital History Discussion Group seminar is an informal meeting based around a recent text in the broad field of digital history.
This session we will discuss Jo Guldi’s recent work on text mining, historical method, and environmental policy. Attendees are encouraged to read one of three texts:
- For those with subscription access via their university (and with a little more time!), either the introduction to her new book The Dangerous Art of Text Mining or her 2022 Isis article ‘The Climate Emergency Demands a New Kind of History’.
- For those without subscription access or who are short on time, her in conversation piece from 2023 published in Politika.
Participants are encouraged to read the text before joining this discussion group.
