Dear DH Asia Community 🐈 🌿✨ ,

Our speaker is Dr. Michael Stanley-Baker, Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University. His talk is titled “Ancient and Modern Biotopes: What Can We Learn from Digitizing Ancient Pharmacology?”

Dr. Stanley-Baker notes: “This talk focuses on the historical insights and modern applications that can be gained from using the Polyglot Asian Medicine website. We will investigate historical ideas about the emergence of early Chinese drug markets, and how GIS mapping of those historical placenames changes our ideas about the regions, the significance of the placenames, and the socio-technical practices that went on there.”

You can read a more detailed talk abstract and the speaker bio in the attached flyer 😌 Looking forward to seeing many of you!

Sincerely,
Setsuko on behalf of the DH Asia Webinar Planning Team
